Rigid tests. Dress code. Daily testing:  This is the training that I received from a Microsoft Certified Trainer for 6 months.

Unlike today, where many new MCSE's get their training via 'exam crams' and 'guerilla testing tactics,' my instruction was through technical manuals, code, books, and labratory studies.

 Every Expert Has A Mentor

 Every expert has a mentor, just like in many professional occupations. Two of my primary mentors are Justin Brown and Byron O'Brien. Mr. O'Brien mentored me on Unix, Solaris, and Linux. Mr. Brown mentored me, rather aggressively, as I remember, on Microsoft systems and internet protocol.  Eugene Wong taught me the ways of PERL and PHP.   

These uber-experts guided and mentored me through 8+ years of hands-on network engineering and product development. With these two, credibility and information source was their primary focus in regards to problem solving, and many of our duties required empirical data gathering or direct research. Back then, Google had not yet matured to the point where it is today and information came via hands-on labratory experience or field deployment.

 You can be absolutely sure when you hire me, you are hiring an expert.  I go well beyond the source issue and address the issues at the core.

 My Microsoft background is vast. From the early days of Windows 3.1 (WFW) to their flagship server product line, Windows NT, through Windows 2000, and now to Windows 2003.  My training and expertise then went on to enterprise server configuration, mail servers, clustering, and network security.

 As a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, you are required to know all areas of not only the operating system, but the attached network, printers, servers, workstations, and interoperability with other operating systems such as Unix, Apple, and Novell.  And that is just at the application layer!  We also know about differnet networking protocols that may run across these networks and their interoperability with Microsoft networks.  It's all good stuff and those who do what I do, love our work.
